Win10 Microsoft Pinyin Add Xiaohe Double Pinyin and Other Configurations

The built-in Microsoft Pinyin has better compatibility and fluency. I never used it because, although it supports double pinyin, it does not have the Xiaohe double pinyin input scheme. Today, I found a simple method on the official forum of Xiaohe double pinyin to add the Xiaohe double pinyin scheme to Microsoft Pinyin.

First, open the registry and find this path:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InputMethod\Settings\CHS

Then create a new string value named UserDefinedDoublePinyinScheme0, with the value data as:

Xiaohe double pinyin*2*^*iuvdjhcwfg^xmlnpbksqszxkrltvyovt

Next, open the control panel, find the configuration page for Microsoft Pinyin, and set the newly appeared Xiaohe double pinyin as the default value.

The main significance of directly modifying the registry is that you don't have to define the key and syllable correspondence one by one.

After that, I made some additional configurations to the input method to suit my habits.

In Win10, the default is: default Chinese input method, all programs use the same input method. This mode can sometimes be inconvenient, such as when switching from a chat window or writing an article (inputting Chinese) to a browser to enter a URL, or when switching to terminal software or an IDE to start coding. My habit is to have the default input method as English when each program opens, and only switch to Chinese input method when needed.

This needs to be modified in the "Advanced Configuration" of the input method settings.

Change the default to English input method and do not allow all program windows to share the input method.

Typing Chinese characters has become more comfortable, and writing code has also become more enjoyable.
